Obsidian is a powerful tool for note-taking and knowledge management. Whether you use it daily or you are just getting started, I want to share a GitHub repository where you can find a wide variety of free templates to level up your system.
These templates will help you streamline your workflow, whether you are taking notes during an important meeting, tracking daily habits, or designing your own productivity framework.
If you don’t know what a GitHub repository is, don’t worry—you don’t need to be a developer to use this. Just follow the steps below.
Repository Structure #
Inside the repository, you will see two main files on the left: LICENSE and README.md.
The LICENSE file explains how you can use these templates, and the README.md serves as an introduction to the project, including FAQs and contribution guides.
The “meat” of the project is in the Templates folder. There, you will find several subfolders, each containing one or more .md (Markdown) files. These are the templates you can download and use in your Obsidian Vault.
How to use the templates #
To use these templates, you first need to download them. You have two simple options:
1. Download the entire repository (ZIP) #
Go to the repository here and click the green “Code” button. Select “Download ZIP”.
Once downloaded, unzip the file. Remember that the templates are specifically inside the “Templates” folder.
2. Download a single template #
If you only need one specific file, open that template in GitHub, click the “Download raw file” icon (usually a small downward arrow), and save it to your computer.
Now you can move these files into your Obsidian vault and start using them. If you want to see the step-by-step process of importing them, check out this video:
